dancedance/RE♦VOLUTION
is an introduction to the vibrant diversity of contemporary dance in South Africa. Rooted in both tradition and the idioms of modern movement, this half-hour documentary introduces new audiences to work ranging from site-specific solos to multi-media physical theater. The struggle for freedom is ongoing in post-apartheid South Africa. Dancemakers are discovering new opportunities and new language to address issues of race and gender, utilizing fresh approaches grounded in history, memory and personal identity.

BODY/BAG
South African choreographer Gavin Krastin’s performance explores the limits and boundaries of movement while trapped in a transparent sheath. A solitary, vulnerable performer confronts the body’s desire to break free, while only breath escapes. His physical struggle to move is a portrait of resistance to stasis, stagnation, loss and futility.

RASA DARI TARI/THE SOUL OF DANCE
The Soul of Dance is an introduction to the vibrant diversity of contemporary dance in Indonesia. Rooted both in tradition and the idioms of modern movement this half hour documentary introduces audiences to work ranging from site-specific solos to multimedia musical theater. The documentary includes excerpts from six works and interviews with the creators discussing the relationship between tradition and innovation.

BODY WITHOUT A BRAIN
Body Without a Brain is a high risk, physically demanding dance for camera. Filmed in Kalimantan (Indonesian Borneo).

QUEENS DREAM
Queens Dream is a site-specific dance for film at Niki de St. Phalle's Queen Califia's Magical Circle. Groups of dancers in black are reflected in the mirrors of the maze that guards the entrance to the site. Portholes and archways open to hidden worlds. Trance, ritual and repetition combine in a magical world invoking our unconscious dreams.

TROLLEY DANCES
Trolley Dances brings dance to the streets and people to the dance using San Diego's Red Trolleys as the vehicle –– literally.

Talking Peace is a documentary about Jewish Palestinian Living Room Dialogue in San Diego. Talking Peace is rooted in a process of getting to know distinct individuals and the telling details of their history and experience.
